What’s the Best Time of Day to Release Your Podcast?

It’s one of the most common questions podcasters ask: “What time should I release my episodes?”

And the answer is… it depends.

There’s no one-size-fits-all “perfect time.” But there is a best time for your audience—and it all comes down to when they’re most likely to press play.

Here’s how to figure that out:

Think about your listeners’ routine. Are they morning commuters? Lunch break learners? Evening relaxers? Match your release time to their habits. If they listen during their morning routine, aim to have your episode live by 6 or 7am.

Look at your stats. If you’ve been podcasting for a while, check when downloads spike. That gives you a clue about when your audience is most active.

Be consistent. Whatever time you choose, stick with it. Regularity builds trust and creates a listening habit for your audience.

Don’t forget time zones. If your audience is global, releasing in the early morning (your time) gives people across different regions a chance to catch it throughout the day.

Some general trends:

  • Podcasts released early in the morning (6–8am) often perform best, especially on weekdays.
  • Tuesday to Thursday tend to be peak listening days.
  • But again—it depends on your show and your listeners.

So ask yourself: When are they free to listen? Then make sure your episode is waiting for them.

Because the best time to release your podcast isn’t just about the clock—it’s about your community.
